Chris no, thats how many pixels can be displayed on the screen - if you just look at 5/8mp pictures on a mobile phone screen then you can't appreciate them - upload them to a computer then you'll see 8mp in all its glory!!!!

Paw I work for T-Mobile, and the fault where you cannot use camera or read sms is quite common.
To fix it, type in the following code, but please be warned, you will lose any sms, pictures and numbers stored on the phone.
From the standby screen type in:
2945#*# and select option 6 (reset) from the menu.
The phone will restart and after about a minute you'll be working again.
Make a note of the code, because you'll be needing it every few months.
It is a terrible phone!
