vvvigen This phone has excellent features like 2mp camera, huge 250k color screens & bluetooth. However, it looks terrible. I can't imagine there is still a phone out there use charcoal & black plastic. I almost bought this phone but I'll wait as SE & Nokia have some new phones will similar featues with elegant looks! I can't wait!

Anna Just to make it clear--I was not going to pick a phone based on the appearance. Both phones seemed to be equal in all other aspects, so since I liked the appearance of the z500 better, I was just going to go with that one.

Answers In order for your phone to recognize MP3 songs, you MUST use the provided USB cable to download the files to the miniSD card. If you use a miniSD/SD card reader to transfer MP3 songs to the miniSD card, then the NEC N840 phone will not recognize the MP3 files.
I can send/receive messages via this phone, so I do not know specifically as to why someone is unable to use this function. It works just fine for me. Check your local cell phone carrier.
